Pharmacodynamics

Alclomethasone cream is a synthetic, non-fluorinated, moderately active corticosteroid for local use. It has an anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, immunosuppressive, vasoconstrictor and antiproliferative effect.

Anti-inflammatory activity is associated with a decrease in the production, release and activity of factors that mediate inflammation, such as quinine, histamine, lysosomal enzymes, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes, which contribute to the development of the inflammatory process.

Corticosteroids prevent the expansion of blood vessels and increase their porosity, accordingly, the migration of inflammatory cells to the cells of the damaged tissue decreases. This effect reduces serum extravasation, swelling and pain.

The immunosuppressive effect is manifested in the inhibition of early hypersensitivity reactions (III and IV types). The mechanism of activity is manifested in the reduction of the toxic effect of the antigen-antibody complex, which settles on the walls of blood vessels and leads to the occurrence of allergic vasculitis on the one hand, and a decrease in the activity of lymphokines, target cells and macrophages, which together lead to the development of allergic contact dermatitis, on the other hand side

Corticosteroids also prevent the access of sensitized T-lymphocytes and macrophages to target cells.

The antiproliferative effect of alclomethasone cream is manifested in the reduction of the number of hyperplastic tissues, which are typical for psoriasis.

Indication

Treatment of dermatoses sensitive to treatment with local corticosteroids (including atopic and contact dermatitis, psoriasis).

Treatment:

  • dermatoses on areas of the skin with increased sensitivity (for example, the face, areas of diaper rash);
  • chronic dermatoses in patients with sensitive skin (children and elderly patients);
  • large areas of skin, especially in children due to minimal systemic absorption;
  • dermatoses that require continued treatment after the use of stronger corticosteroids.
