Description

Agrel (Clopidogrel) Coated Tablets 75 mg. №28

Composition

Active ingredient: Clopidogrel bisulfate 75 mg.

Other ingredients: Microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silica, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, macrogol 6000, titanium dioxide (E171).

Mechanism of Action

Clopidogrel, the active ingredient in Agrel tablets, is a platelet aggregation inhibitor that works by irreversibly binding to the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets. This action prevents platelet activation and aggregation, thereby inhibiting the formation of blood clots.

Pharmacological Properties

Pharmacological Effects: Clopidogrel inhibits platelet aggregation by selectively and irreversibly binding to the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets. This action prevents ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex, thereby inhibiting platelet activation and subsequent aggregation.

Indications for Use

Agrel (Clopidogrel) coated tablets are indicated for the prevention of atherothrombotic events in patients with a history of recent myocardial infarction, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease.

Contraindications

Contraindications: Do not use Agrel (Clopidogrel) coated tablets if you are allergic to clopidogrel or any other ingredients in the formulation. Consult a healthcare provider before use if you have a history of bleeding disorders or ulcers.

Side Effects

The common side effects of Agrel tablets may include gastrointestinal disturbances, bruising, and bleeding. If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, seek medical attention immediately.

Usage Instructions

Benefits Compared to Analogues

Agrel (Clopidogrel) has been shown in clinical studies to effectively reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients when compared to other antiplatelet agents. Its mechanism of action and proven efficacy make it a preferred choice for the prevention of atherothrombotic events.

Suitable Patient Groups

Agrel (Clopidogrel) coated tablets are suitable for adult patients with a history of recent myocardial infarction, stroke, or peripheral arterial disease. The dosage may need adjustment in elderly patients or those with renal impairment. Consult a healthcare provider for personalized recommendations.

Clinical Evidence and Proven Effectiveness

Clinical Trials: Clinical studies have shown that Clopidogrel, such as in Agrel tablets, is effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with a history of atherothrombotic events. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology confirmed the efficacy of Clopidogrel in reducing major cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction and stroke, in high-risk patients.
