Scientific Evidence

Clopidogrel, the active ingredient in Agrel tablets, is a platelet aggregation inhibitor that works by irreversibly binding to the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets, preventing platelet activation and aggregation. Clinical trials have shown clopidogrel to be effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine demonstrated a significant reduction in the combined risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, or cardiovascular death with clopidogrel therapy.

Additional Information

It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all medications, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements, before starting Agrel (clopidogrel) therapy.
Store the tablets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.

Pharmacological Effects: Clopidogrel inhibits platelet aggregation by selectively and irreversibly binding to the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets. This action prevents ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex, thereby inhibiting platelet activation and subsequent aggregation.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have shown that clopidogrel, such as in Agrel tablets, is effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with a history of atherothrombotic events. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology confirmed the efficacy of clopidogrel in reducing major cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction and stroke, in high-risk patients.
