Description

Exemestane-TEVA Coated Tablets 25 mg. №30

Ingredients:

Each tablet contains 25 mg of Exemestane.

Mechanism of Action:

Exemestane is a selective irreversible steroidal aromatase inactivator. It works by binding to the aromatase enzyme, leading to its inactivation. This action results in decreased estrogen levels in postmenopausal women.

Pharmacological Properties:

Exemestane exhibits anti-estrogenic properties by inhibiting the conversion of androgens to estrogens. It is well-absorbed orally and has a half-life of approximately 24 hours. The metabolites are primarily excreted through urine and feces.

Indications for Use:

Exemestane-TEVA is indicated for the adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer after 2-3 years of tamoxifen. It is also used for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women whose disease has progressed following antiestrogen therapy.

Contraindications:

Avoid the use of Exemestane-TEVA in pregnant or breastfeeding women due to potential fetal harm. It is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to Exemestane or any of the tablet’s components.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Exemestane-TEVA include hot flashes, headache, fatigue, nausea, and musculoskeletal pain. Rare but serious side effects may include bone fractures, cardiovascular events, and liver dysfunction. Patients should be monitored for any adverse reactions during treatment.

Usage Instructions:

The recommended dose is one 25 mg tablet taken orally once daily after a meal. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. It is advised not to crush or chew the tablet.

Benefits Compared to Analogues:

Studies have suggested that Exemestane-TEVA may offer a favorable side effect profile compared to other aromatase inhibitors, potentially making it a preferred choice for some patients. Its efficacy in reducing the risk of breast cancer recurrence has been well-documented in clinical trials.

Suitable Patient Groups:

Exemestane-TEVA is suitable for postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. It is not recommended for use in premenopausal women or men. Special caution should be exercised in elderly patients and those with hepatic impairment.

Storage Conditions and Shelf Life:

Store Exemestane-TEVA at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the tablets in the original package to protect from light. The shelf life of the product is as indicated on the packaging.

Packaging Description:

Exemestane-TEVA Coated Tablets are supplied in blister packs containing 30 tablets. Each tablet is film-coated for oral administration and is imprinted with the product name and strength.
