Do not use Inspra tablets in patients with known hypersensitivity to eplerenone, severe renal impairment, or hyperkalemia.

Directions

Take Inspra tablets orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Scientific Evidence

Eplerenone, the active ingredient in Inspra tablets, is a selective aldosterone blocker that has shown efficacy in reducing cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in patients with heart failure post-myocardial infarction. Clinical trials have demonstrated its ability to improve left ventricular function and reduce hospitalizations due to heart failure.

Additional Information

Inspra tablets should be stored at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children. Regular monitoring of potassium levels is recommended during treatment with eplerenone.

Pharmacological Effects: Eplerenone works by blocking the binding of aldosterone to its receptors, leading to decreased sodium retention and potassium excretion. This mechanism helps in reducing the strain on the heart and improving overall cardiovascular function.

Comparative Effectiveness: Studies have compared eplerenone with other aldosterone antagonists and have shown similar efficacy in managing heart failure and hypertension. However, eplerenone’s selective action may offer advantages in terms of tolerability and side effect profile.
