Description

Ketorolak Tablets 10 mg. №10

Composition

The active ingredient in each tablet is 10 mg of Ketorolak Tromethamine.

Mechanism of Action

Ketorolak, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), exerts its pharmacological effects by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX). By doing so, it suppresses the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are crucial mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever.

Pharmacological Properties

Ketorolak possesses analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. Following oral administration, it is rapidly and extensively absorbed, achieving peak plasma concentrations within 1-2 hours.

Indications for Use

Ketorolak tablets are indicated for the short-term management of moderate to severe pain. They are particularly beneficial in conditions such as postoperative pain, dental pain, and renal colic.

Contraindications

  • Patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to Ketorolak or other NSAIDs should avoid its use.
  • Contraindicated in individuals with active peptic ulcer disease, recent gastrointestinal bleeding, or perforation.
  • Patients with severe renal impairment or those at risk of renal failure due to volume depletion should not use Ketorolak.

Side Effects

Common side effects associated with Ketorolak include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and potential renal impairment. Although rare, serious adverse effects like gastrointestinal bleeding and allergic reactions may occur.

Usage Instructions

The recommended dosage of Ketorolak is one tablet every 4-6 hours as needed for pain relief. Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on the severity of pain and individual response. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water and maintain an upright position for at least 10 minutes post-ingestion.

Benefits Compared to Analogues

Ketorolak stands out for its effective pain management profile coupled with a reduced risk of cardiovascular events compared to certain other NSAIDs. Its rapid onset of action and short-term utility make it a preferred choice for acute pain management in specific patient cohorts.

Suitable Patient Groups

Ketorolak is suitable for adult patients requiring short-term pain relief. Caution is advised when administering to the elderly population due to an elevated susceptibility to adverse effects. Not recommended for use in children under the age of 16.

Storage and Shelf Life

Store Ketorolak tablets in a cool, dry place shielded from direct sunlight. Ensure the packaging is securely closed to maintain product integrity. The shelf life of Ketorolak typically ranges from 2 to 3 years from the date of manufacture.

Packaging Description

Ketorolak tablets are commonly packaged in blister packs containing 10 tablets each. The packaging is designed to safeguard the tablets against moisture and contamination, preserving their quality until consumption.
