Scientific Evidence
Loperamide, the active ingredient in Loperamid tablets, works by slowing down the movement of the intestines. This helps to reduce the frequency of bowel movements and the watery consistency of the stool. Studies have shown that loperamide is effective in treating acute diarrhea and can help improve symptoms within a few hours of administration.
Additional Information
It is important to stay hydrated while taking Loperamid tablets to prevent dehydration. If diarrhea persists for more than 48 hours, consult a healthcare professional. Store the tablets at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Pharmacological Effects: Loperamide acts on opioid receptors in the gut, decreasing peristalsis and fluid secretion, which results in the slowing down of bowel movements and the firming of stool consistency.
Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of loperamide in reducing the number of stools and the duration of diarrhea episodes in patients with acute diarrhea. Comparative studies have shown loperamide to be as effective as other antidiarrheal medications with a lower risk of central nervous system side effects.
