Mebsin Retard composition
active substance: mebeverine hydrochloride (mebeverine);
1 capsule contains mebeverine hydrochloride in the form of prolonged-release pellets 200 mg;
Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, mannitol (E 421), sucrose, sodium lauryl sulfate, ethylcellulose.

Pharmacological properties
It is a myotropic antispasmodic that reduces peristalsis and reduces the tone of the intestinal muscle layer. It is used for functional disorders of the motility of the digestive tract, which are accompanied by pain of a spastic nature, as well as for secondary spasms as a result of organic diseases of the digestive organs. It acts by blocking the sodium channels of the membranes of smooth muscle cells, preventing the entry of Na ions into the cell and smooth muscle spasm.
Indications
Mebsin Retard is prescribed:
- for the symptomatic treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, which is accompanied by alternating constipation and diarrhea, persistent diarrhea, pain, postprandial (after eating) discomfort;
- with gastrointestinal spasms caused by organic diseases;
- with functional disorders of the biliary tract, gallbladder in the hyperkinetic / hypertensive type.
Contraindications
Do not prescribe Mebsin Retard in case of hypersensitivity to mebeverine or capsule auxiliary components.
Since the capsules contain sugar, patients with rare hereditary metabolic pathologies, such as lactase deficiency, galactose / fructose intolerance, sucrase / isomaltase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption, should not take this drug.
It should be borne in mind that long-term use of the drug by patients with hereditary blood diseases can cause unwanted disorders, including disorders of the nervous system.
Children
It is not used in children under 10 years of age.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Not assigned.
Method of administration and dosage
Mebsin Retard capsules are intended for oral administration (by mouth) with a sufficient amount of water (at least 100 ml).
It is not recommended to open or chew the capsule, as its coating is intended to provide a prolonged (gradual) release of the drug.
The recommended dose for adults, children over the age of 10 years is 1 capsule (200 mg) x 2 times / day (morning and evening).
The duration of the drug is not limited.
Overdose
In case of overdose, the development of reactions associated with excitation of the central nervous system, as well as cardiovascular disorders, is assumed.
The specific antidote to mebeverine is unknown.
In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment is recommended. The need for gastric lavage (within an hour from the moment of administration) appears only in case of poisoning with several different drugs at once.
Side effects:
- Disorders of the skin, subcutaneous tissue: facial edema, urticaria, angioedema, hyperemia, skin rashes, hemorrhagic rash.
- Disorders of the nervous system: depression, headache, dizziness.
- Digestive tract disorders: stool changes (diarrhea or constipation).
- General disorders: manifestations of hypersensitivity (including anaphylactic reactions).
Storage conditions and periods
Mebsin Retard must be stored in its original, undamaged packaging, keeping temperature (15-30 ° C), low humidity, and no direct sunlight. The shelf life is 2 years. Parents are required to ensure the safety of their children by limiting access to medication.
