Pharmacological Effects: Memantine works by blocking the action of glutamate, a neurotransmitter involved in learning and memory. By modulating glutamate levels, memantine helps regulate brain activity and improve cognitive function in Alzheimer’s patients.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have shown that memantine is well-tolerated and effective in managing symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that memantine treatment was associated with a slower decline in cognitive function and improved clinical global impression scores compared to placebo.
