Menovalen composition
active ingredients: valerian lipophilic complex ((10-15): 1) (Valerianae radices extractum spissum) and peppermint lipophilic complex ((10.8-14.8): 1) (Menthae piperitae extractum spissum);
1 capsule contains valerian complex lipophilic ((10-15): 1) (Valerianae radices extractum spissum), in terms of dry matter – 50 mg, peppermint lipophilic complex ((10.8-14.8): 1) (Menthae piperitae extractum spissum), calculated on dry matter – 25 mg;
excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, potato starch, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, light magnesium carbonate. The cap and body of the capsule contain a brilliant black dye BN (E 151).

Pharmacological properties
This Menovalen drug belongs to the group of complex phytopreparations that affect the functioning of the nervous and cardiovascular systems, is used in neurology and cardiology.
The main active ingredients are valerian and lemon balm tincture.
The cardiological effect is due to useful microelements, which are part of, in particular, essential oils, steroids, stachydrin, leopurine, flavonoids, borneol, quercetin, saponins, ascorbic and valeric acids, alkaloids, bitterness, mineral salts, and other substances.
Peppermint contains substances that contribute to its soothing effect.
Oral administration of the drug contributes to a positive effect on the state of the cardiovascular system. It has a cardiotonic, moderate sedative (sedative effect).
It causes a decrease in the excitation of the central nervous system, enhances the effect of sedatives, pain relievers, antispasmodic and cardiotonic drugs.

Contraindications
The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or one of the auxiliary components.
Also, use is contraindicated for:

  • arterial hypotension;
  • drowsiness;
  • depression, other types of depression of the central nervous system.

When used together with alcoholic beverages, as well as sedatives, anesthetic and antispasmodic drugs, it enhances the effect of the latter. For this reason, with the simultaneous use of these substances, the patient should be monitored.

Children
In pediatrics, it can be used from the age of 12.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is contraindicated in the treatment of pregnant women and women during lactation (only if absolutely necessary).

Method of administration and dosage
The dosage, regimens and duration of treatment are determined by the attending physician on an individual basis, depending on the nature and course of the disease.
It is recommended to administer Menovalen for adults orally, 30 minutes before meals, 1 capsule at a time, but not more than 3 times a day.
If you have trouble falling asleep, take 1-2 capsules 1-1.5 hours before falling asleep.
The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually – depending on the clinical effect, the nature of the complex therapy and the tolerability of the drug. The recommended duration of treatment is 3-4 weeks.
Do not exceed the recommended dosage during therapy.
You should consult your doctor if the symptoms of the disease have not disappeared during the use of the drug within two weeks of days or if there are adverse reactions that are not specified in the instructions for medical use of the drug.

Overdose
Overdose can cause:

  • lethargy, drowsiness, weakness, fatigue, loss of consciousness;
  • colic in the stomach,
  • compression in the chest, dilated pupils;
  • arrhythmia, bradycardia;
  • drowsiness, dizziness, headache.

Treatment is symptomatic. In this case, the use of the drug should be canceled, the stomach should be washed out and sorbents should be taken.

Side effects
Adverse reactions may occur. In this case, such reactions are possible as:

  • bradycardia;
  • drowsiness, depression of emotions, depression, decreased performance, headache, muscle weakness;
  • bronchospasm;
  • dyspeptic symptoms – nausea, vomiting;
  • allergic reactions, rash, itching, allergic urticaria.
