Neuralgin composition and release form
Active ingredient: gabapentin.
Available in capsules of 300 mg.
Pharmacological properties
It is an antiepileptic agent. The mechanism of its analgesic (pain relieving) and antiepileptic action is unknown, but proven by research.
Indications
Neuralgin is used to treat severe pain (including neuropathic pain) in adults.
It can also be used in combination with other antiepileptic drugs for the treatment of partial epileptic seizures with / without secondary generalization in children over 12 years of age or in adults, as well as for the treatment of partial seizures in children 6–12 years of age.

The use of the drug in pregnant women is allowed only in cases where the benefit to the mother’s condition outweighs the risk to the fetus. The active ingredient (gabapentin) is excreted in breast milk, so the use is possible after the termination of breastfeeding.
Method of administration and dosage
The capsule is taken with or without food. To reduce the risk of adverse reactions, the first dose is best taken at bedtime.
For neuropathic pain, a single dose of 300 mg is recommended on the first day, on the second day – 300 mg x2 times, on the third day – 300 mg x3 times. If necessary, the daily dose is increased (gradually) to achieve an analgesic effect (maximum 1800 mg, divided into three doses). In severe cases, high doses can be prescribed (1800–3600 mg / day).
For epilepsy, a combination treatment is recommended. Patients over 12 years of age begin treatment with 300 mg x 3 times / day. The effective dose is 900–1800 mg / day (divided into three doses). The maximum interval between taking the medicine should not exceed 12 hours.
For children aged 6–12 years, the recommended dose is 25–35 mg / kg / day, divided into three doses.
