Scientific Evidence:
Norfloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, thereby preventing DNA supercoiling and replication. This mechanism of action makes it effective against a wide range of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria.
Clinical trials have shown that norfloxacin is highly effective in treating urinary tract infections and other bacterial infections. A study published in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy demonstrated the superior efficacy of norfloxacin compared to other antibiotics in the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
Additional Information:
- Norfloxacin tablets should be taken exactly as prescribed and the full course should be completed to prevent antibiotic resistance.
- Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, and headache. If any severe side effects occur, contact a healthcare provider immediately.
