Description

Pariet composition and form of release
It is produced in enteric-coated tablets. The main active ingredient of the drug is sodium rabeprazole.

Indications
Pariet has a pronounced antiulcer and hyposecretory effect, which makes it possible to use it for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, as well as gastric and intestinal ulcers in the acute stage, flatulence and reflux esophagitis. It is effective in the treatment of tumor lesions of the islet apparatus of the pancreas and other pathological conditions characterized by hypersecretion of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract. It is also permissible to use Pariet in conjunction with antibacterial drugs for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori.

Contraindications
It is not prescribed if the patient has a sensitivity to the components of the drug, women during lactation and pregnancy and in children under 12 years of age.
With extreme caution, the drug is prescribed to patients with severe kidney damage and renal impairment.

Children
It is not used in pediatrics.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
Presumably, the drug does not have a toxic effect on the fetus, but easily penetrates the placental barrier and into breast milk, and therefore it is not prescribed for the treatment of pregnant and lactating women, except in cases where the benefits of its use for the mother’s health outweigh the risk of negative effects on the fetus or infant.

Method of administration and dosage
Taken orally: the tablets are swallowed whole without chewing and drinking plenty of water. It is advisable to take the drug in the morning on an empty stomach. The time of day does not affect the activity of the drug, but taking it in the morning provides the most effective treatment regimen. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease. For example, in the treatment of exacerbation of gastric ulcer, the course of treatment takes on average 4 weeks, and reflux esophagitis – 8 weeks.

Overdose
Due to the fact that Pariet is well tolerated by patients, there is a minimum amount of information about its accidental or deliberate overdose. In case of an overdose, patients do not have any pronounced clinical symptoms. Patients are prescribed symptomatic treatment, taking enerosorbents and drinking plenty of fluids for faster elimination of the drug.

Side effects
Taking the drug is very rarely accompanied by the development of side effects. During treatment with the drug, flatulence, increased activity of hepatic transaminases, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, mild nausea, asthenia, weakness, headaches may occur, sometimes allergic reactions may occur, manifested by skin rashes, itching and erythema.

Storage conditions and periods
Pariet is stored in a dark, dry place at a temperature of about 25 degrees. It is prohibited to store the drug in the refrigerator, as low temperatures affect its effectiveness. Shelf life 2 years.
