Composition

active substances: dry extract of St. John’s wort (Hyperici herba), dry extract of rhizomes with valerian roots (Rhizoma cum radicibus valerianae);

1 capsule contains dry extract of St. John’s wort 90% (Hyperici herba) (5-7:1) (extractant ethanol 60% (v/v)) 100 mg, dry extract of rhizomes with valerian roots (Rhizoma cum radicibus valerianae) (4-7 :1) (extractant ethanol 60% (v/v)) 50 mg;

excipients: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, maltodextrin, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide;

capsule composition: gelatin, sodium lauryl sulfate, quinoline yellow (E 104), indigo carmine (E 132), titanium dioxide (E 171), iron oxide yellow (E 172), purified water.

The main physical and chemical properties: the top of the capsule is dark green. Light brown to reddish brown powder with agglomerates.

Pharmacological properties

The preparation contains plant extracts with antispasmodic and sedative effects, its intake improves mood and facilitates falling asleep, which makes it possible to use it in the treatment of psychovegetative disorders.
The extract of St. John’s wort contains substances that have a positive effect on the central and autonomic nervous systems. The components of St. John’s wort quickly improve mood and eliminate apathy associated with malaise, decreased appetite and insomnia.
Biologically active substances contained in the roots of valerian reduce the excitation of the central nervous system, enhance the effects of taking sedatives and hypnotics.

Indications

Sedariston is used in the therapy of nervous excitement, increased irritability, deterioration in concentration. Taking capsules is indicated for severe emotional stress, pathological fatigue, climacteric syndrome and other functional disorders in the nervous system. It is used in the treatment of vegetative dystonia associated with the development of disorders in the work of the cardiovascular, digestive and nervous systems.

Contraindications

It is not used for intolerance to the ingredients of the drug, hypersensitivity to ultraviolet radiation, severe forms of depressive disorders, as well as other disorders accompanied by a decrease in blood pressure and depression of the central nervous system.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Sedariston is not used during pregnancy and lactation, as there is no reliable information on the safety and effectiveness of its use for this category of patients.

Method of administration and dosage

Adults and children over 12 years of age: 4 capsules daily (1 capsule 4 times or 2 capsules 2 times).

Capsules are taken before meals, with a sufficient amount of liquid. Capsules are removed from the blister pack immediately before taking them to prevent them from being damaged by moisture.

It is desirable to take the drug regularly and at the same time.

In the treatment of sleep disorders, the last dose of the drug should be taken half an hour before bedtime.

The positive effect of treatment is achieved within 10-14 days. If there is no improvement within 4 weeks after the start of treatment, you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Children

Do not apply to children under 12 years of age.

The use of the drug for children over 12 years of age is possible only by appointment and under the supervision of a doctor.

Overdose

When taking the drug in high doses, the patient may develop symptoms of acute poisoning, manifested by a feeling of bitterness in the mouth, pain in the liver, increased agitation, headaches, dizziness, increased drowsiness, general weakness, decreased hearing acuity, and visual impairment.
To normalize the condition, the patient is prescribed gastric lavage, the intake of enterosorbent drugs and symptomatic treatment.

Side effects

In some patients, taking the drug may be accompanied by the development of dizziness, dyspeptic disorders, allergic reactions, emotional depression, decreased performance and the appearance of rapid fatigue and anxiety.
