Pharmacological properties
Tavipek has a secretolytic, expectorant, mucolytic, epithelial, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, immunostimulatory effect.
The secretolytic effect of the drug is manifested in increased mucociliary clearance. Mucolytic and expectorant action is due to the liquefaction of mucus and increased functional activity of the ciliated epithelium, which promotes faster and easier release of mucus from the respiratory tract. The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity of Tavipek is due to the bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties of lavender essential oil and is manifested in the inhibition of the overall growth of bacteria. Lavender essential oil in vitro inhibits the overall growth of bacteria and fungi, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, without affecting the normal intestinal microflora. Tavipek inactivates staphylococcal toxin – alpha-hemolysin and streptococcal toxin – streptolysin, toxins released by pathogenic bacteria. Tavipek stimulates non-specific parts of the immune system by activating cellular immunity, increasing the phagocytic activity of leukocytes.
