Scientific Evidence
Memantine, the active ingredient in Tingrex, works by regulating the activity of glutamate, a key neurotransmitter involved in learning and memory processes. Studies have shown that memantine can help improve cognitive function and slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by protecting brain cells from excess glutamate-induced toxicity.
Additional Information
It is important to monitor renal function in patients taking memantine, as dose adjustments may be necessary in individuals with impaired kidney function. Common side effects include dizziness, headache, and constipation. Consult a healthcare provider before starting Tingrex to determine the appropriate dosage and to discuss any potential drug interactions.
Pharmacological Effects
Memantine acts as a low to moderate affinity uncompetitive antagonist at NMDA receptors. By blocking these receptors, memantine helps regulate the activity of glutamate, preventing excitotoxicity and neuronal cell death. This mechanism of action is crucial in managing the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and improving cognitive function in affected individuals.
Clinical Trials and Comparative Effectiveness
Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of memantine in improving cognitive function and reducing the decline in activities of daily living in patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease. Compared to other Alzheimer’s medications, memantine has shown comparable effectiveness with a favorable side effect profile, making it a valuable treatment option for individuals with this condition.
Overall, Tingrex (memantine) coated tablets 10 mg. №30 offer a well-tolerated and effective treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, backed by scientific evidence and clinical trials supporting its pharmacological actions and benefits.
