Tizalud (tizanidine) tablets 4 mg. №30
Composition
active substance: tizanidine;
1 tablet contains tizanidine 2 mg or 4 mg;
Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, anhydrous lactose, colloidal anhydrous silica, stearic acid.
Dosage form
Tablets.
Main physical and chemical properties: round tablets with a flat surface with beveled edges and a dash, white or almost white.

Pharmacological properties
Tizanidine is a central skeletal muscle relaxant. Its main site of action is the spinal cord. By stimulating presynaptic α2-adrenoceptors, it inhibits the release of amino acids that stimulate N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDA receptors). As a result, polysynaptic signaling at the level of the interneuronal connections in the spinal cord, which is responsible for excessive muscle tone, is suppressed and muscle tone is reduced. Tizalud is effective in both acute painful muscle spasms and chronic spasticity of cerebral and cerebral origin. It reduces resistance to passive movements, suppresses spasms and clonic seizures, and improves the strength of active muscle contractions.
Indications
Tizalud tablets is used to treat skeletal muscle spasticity that is caused by neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, chronic myelopathy and degenerative diseases of the spinal cord. In addition, the drug is used in the treatment of painful skeletal muscle spasms that occur against the background of a lesion or after operations on the spine.
Contraindications
Tizalud tablets is not prescribed for hypersensitivity to tizanidine or to any excipients of the drug, as well as severe liver dysfunction.
After abrupt withdrawal or rapid dose reduction of Tizaluda, patients may develop tachycardia or arterial hypertension. Due to the fact that a sharp cessation of taking Tizaluda can cause a pronounced increase in arterial pressure and the development of a stroke, the drug is withdrawn only gradually.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Due to the fact that it is not known how tizanidine affects the development of the fetus, Tizalud is not prescribed for pregnant women.
If it is necessary to prescribe the drug to women at the stage of lactation, the woman is informed that she should refuse to breastfeed.
Method of administration and dosage
Treatment with Tizalud tablets begins with a minimum dose not exceeding 2 mg, which reduces the risk of side effects. If taking minimal doses does not allow achieving the required therapeutic effect, then a gradual increase in the dose is recommended.
To eliminate painful muscle spasms, adult patients are prescribed from 2 to 4 mg of the drug 3 times a day. In especially difficult cases, the patient is prescribed an additional dose of the drug from 2 to 4 mg before bedtime.
In the treatment of spasticity that has arisen against the background of neurological diseases, the dose of the drug is selected individually.
The starting daily dose is 6 mg, divided into three doses. If necessary, increase the dose every 3 or 7 days. The highest daily dose of Tizalud is 36 mg.
Overdose
Acute poisoning with Tizalud is a rather rare occurrence. When taking the drug in doses that significantly exceed the maximum allowable, patients develop bradycardia, arterial hypotension, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, increased anxiety, drowsiness and coma.
To stabilize the patient’s condition, he is prescribed gastric lavage, forced diuresis, activated carbon intake and symptomatic treatment.
Side effects
When taking Tizalud tablets, some patients complain of sleep disturbance, dizziness, hallucinations, confusion, fainting, slow heart rate, arterial hypotension, dry mouth, abdominal pain, liver dysfunction, muscle weakness, withdrawal syndrome and asthenia.
