Description

Vietnam Star (xylometazoline hydrochloride) nasal spray 15 ml. №1

Composition

Active substance:
xylometazoline hydrochloride 15 mg;

Excipients:
sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride, purified water.

Release form

Nasal spray.

Pharmachologic effect

Alpha adrenostimulator, narrows the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating swelling and hyperemia of the mucous membrane.

Vietnam Star relieves nasal breathing in rhinitis.

The action comes in a few minutes and lasts for several hours.

Indications:

  • acute allergic rhinitis, acute respiratory infections with rhinitis, sinusitis, hay fever;
  • otitis media (to reduce swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx);
  • preparation of the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, surgical interventions on the meninges (in history), children’s age (up to 6 years), thyrotoxicosis, pregnancy; do not use in therapy with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Side effects

When applied, it can cause burning in the nose and throat, local irritation, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion, dryness of the nasal mucosa.
Allergic reactions are possible. Rarely – swelling of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, visual impairment; depression (with prolonged use in high doses).
If symptoms occur, stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Method of application, course of administration and dosage
Intranasally.

Adults and children over 6 years old: 3 injections (2-3 drops) in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day.
Do not use more than 3 times a day.
Apply within 7-14 days.

Special Instructions

Frequent and prolonged use is not recommended for chronic diseases of the nasopharynx. In “cold” diseases in cases where crusts form in the nose, it is preferable to prescribe in the form of a gel.

Do not use simultaneously with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
