Xarelto (rivaroxaban) Coated Tablets 10 mg. №10
Ingredients:
Each coated tablet contains 10 mg of rivaroxaban.
Dosage:
The recommended dosage is one 10 mg tablet taken orally once daily with or without food.
Indications:
Xarelto is indicated for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, treatment and prevention of deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism.
Contraindications:
Do not use Xarelto in patients with active pathological bleeding or a history of a hypersensitivity reaction to rivaroxaban.
Directions:
Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet before swallowing.
Scientific Evidence:
Rivaroxaban, the active ingredient in Xarelto, is a direct Factor Xa inhibitor that selectively blocks the active site of Factor Xa, an important enzyme in the coagulation cascade. By inhibiting Factor Xa, rivaroxaban prevents the formation of thrombin and subsequent blood clot formation.
Clinical trials, such as the ROCKET AF study, have demonstrated the efficacy of Xarelto in reducing the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation compared to warfarin, with a similar safety profile.
Additional Information:
Xarelto has a rapid onset of action and does not require routine monitoring of coagulation levels, making it a convenient option for patients requiring anticoagulation therapy. However, like all anticoagulants, Xarelto carries a risk of bleeding, and patients should be monitored for signs of bleeding complications.
Patients should be advised to promptly report any unusual bleeding or bruising while taking Xarelto. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and not to discontinue the medication without consulting a healthcare provider.
