Composition

active substance: udenafil;

1 film-coated tablet contains udenafil 100 mg or 200 mg;

Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, hydroxypropylcellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica, talc, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), yellow FCF (E 110).

Dosage form

Film-coated tablets.

Main physicochemical properties: pale orange film-coated tablets, oval, embossed 100 for a dosage of 100 mg and 200 for a dosage of 200 mg on the one hand and Z and Y separated by a dash on the other.

Pharmacological properties

This pharmacological drug belongs to a group of drugs for the correction of erectile dysfunction.
The drug selectively reversibly inhibits cyclic guanosine monophosphate, a specific type V phosphodiesterase.
It does not show a direct relaxing effect on the corpus cavernosum. However, sexual stimulation enhances the relaxation effect by inhibiting PDE-5, which is responsible for the breakdown of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum.
After that, the smooth muscles of the arteries relax and blood flows to the penis, which leads to an erection. The drug is effective in the absence of sexual arousal.
The drug is effective for up to 24 hours.
The primary effect is observed 30 minutes after taking the drug.

Indications

The drug is prescribed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, characterized by the inability to achieve or maintain an erection of the penis, necessary for successful sexual intercourse.

Contraindications

The drug in question is contraindicated in cases where the patient has a pronounced hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.
The drug is contraindicated in the following conditions:

  • arterial hypotension;
  • uncontrolled arrhythmia;
  • hereditary degenerative diseases of the retina (including retinitis pigmentosa);
  • severe hepatic or renal failure;
  • the presence of congenital syndrome of QT prolongation or increase in QT interval due to medication;
  • unstable angina or severe heart failure;
  • stroke, myocardial infarction or coronary artery bypass grafting in the last 6 months;
  • use of strong cytochrome P450 inhibitors (HIV protease inhibitor indinavir or ritonavir, concomitant use of the drug with other drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction).

The drug is not used in pediatrics.

Method of application and dose

The drug is taken regardless of food intake, one table. 100 mg per day for about 30 minutes. to the alleged sexual activity. The dose can be increased with caution to 200 mg, after careful evaluation of all adverse events that occurred after taking 100 mg of the drug. The maximum recommended number of applications is once a day.

Overdose

With increasing dose, the frequency of adverse events increases: headache, flushing.

Side effects

The drug is usually well tolerated if used in the recommended doses and the mode of administration is observed.
Allergies may occur in case of individual intolerance. In particular, the following can be observed:

  • chest pain, abdominal pain, fatigue, flushing, chest discomfort;
  • dizziness, stiffness of the occipital muscles, paresthesia;
  • blurred vision, eye pain, chromatopsia;
  • shortness of breath, dryness of the nasal mucosa;
  • swelling of the face or eyes, hives, itching;
  • periarthritis.
