Treatment of acute uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections caused by fosfomycin-sensitive microorganisms in men and girls aged 12 years and adult women. Prevention during diagnostic procedures and surgical interventions in adult patients.
Description
Fosforal Composition
The active ingredient is fosfomycin (1 packet contains 5.631 g of fosfomycin trometamol, which is equivalent to 3 g of fosfomycin).
Excipients: tangerine flavor, orange flavor, saccharin, sucrose.
Fosforal Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, severe renal failure (creatinine clearance <10 ml / minute), age up to 12 years, undergoing hemodialysis.
Fosforal Mode of application
“Phosphoral” is administered orally on an empty stomach, preferably at bedtime after emptying the bladder. Dissolve the contents of the package in ½ glass of water. The dosage regimen is determined by the doctor.
Usually, a single dose for adults, including patients of summer age (age up to 75 years), in the acute phase of the disease is 3 g (1 packet) once.
In order to prevent urinary tract infection during surgery, transurethral diagnostic studies, take the contents of the 1st package 3 hours before the intervention and the second package – 24 hours after the intervention.

Pregnant
During pregnancy, the use of the drug is possible if necessary, when the expected effect of therapy for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
During the period of breastfeeding, the use of the drug should be discontinued. No studies have been performed on use during lactation.
Children
It can be used for the treatment of acute uncomplicated infections of the lower urinary tract in women over 12 years of age.
There is insufficient data on the use of the drug for therapeutic purposes in children aged 12 and over, as well as sufficient data on the use of the drug for prophylactic purposes for both boys and girls.
Drivers
There is no data confirming the effect on the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms.
Overdose
Symptoms: vestibular disorders, hearing impairment, metallic taste in the mouth and a general decrease in taste perception.
Treatment: symptomatic and supportive therapy. It is recommended to take a lot of fluids to increase urine output.
Side effects
The most common adverse reactions with a single dose of fosfomycin trometamol include disruption of the gastrointestinal tract, mainly diarrhea. These phenomena are most often short-lived and go away on their own.
