Glicosteril F-10 200 ml Pharmacotherapeutic group.

Solutions for correction of electrolyte imbalance. Electrolytes with carbohydrates. ATX code B05B B02.

Pharmacological properties.

Plasma replacement isotonic saline solution containing a balanced composition of essential ions and fructose. The drug compensates for the loss of fluid, electrolytes and partially – energy, restores water-salt balance. Fructose stimulates the formation of glucose and glycogen in the liver, improves the flow of glucose to cells. Fructose metabolism is carried out independently of insulin, its use does not increase blood glucose levels, which is important in the treatment of patients with diabetes. Fructose has a pronounced antiketogenic effect, has a slight diuretic effect, has a specific effect on protein metabolism, which is manifested in the saving of amino acids due to their less use in gluconeogenesis.

Clinical characteristics.

Indication.

As a means for partial parenteral nutrition in iso- and hypotonic dehydration due to unrestrained vomiting, profuse diarrhea, intestinal obstruction, acute massive blood loss, burns, shock, collapse; to compensate for the need for carbohydrates, including diabetes and other disorders of glucose utilization, provided the normal acid-base balance of the blood or its shift to the alkaline side.

Contraindication.

Edema, hypervolemia, hypersensitivity to fructose and / or to other components of the drug, methanol intoxication, hyperlactatemia, hypertensive dehydration, metabolic acidosis.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

The drug should not be mixed with phosphate- and carbonate-containing solutions.

Features of application.

Use with caution in renal and / or hepatic insufficiency. Treatment should be carried out under the control of water balance.

Since every 100 ml of the drug contains 10 g of fructose, use with caution in patients with diabetes.

Prolonged use (more than 5 days) of Glycosteril F10 is impractical, as it may cause fructose-induced hyperglycemia and hypertriglyceridemia due to disorders of lipid metabolism and a decrease in the number of glucose transporters on the outer surfaces of cell membranes.
