Description
Nurofen composition
The active ingredient of the drug is ibuprofen (100 mg/5 ml), it also contains excipients.
Release form
Available in the form of an oral syrup / suspension, orange or strawberry flavor. The bottle has a special childproof lid. The kit also includes a special measuring device.
Pharmacological properties
Nurofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and antirheumatic drug. This form is used exclusively in pediatrics, starting from 3 months of age, for children weighing more than 5 kg, up to 12 years.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in case of an allergic reaction to one of the components of the drug, acute phases of a stomach or duodenal ulcer, ulcerative colitis, inhibition of hematopoiesis, hemorrhagic diathesis, low blood pressure, myocardial, kidney, liver failure, a tendency to bronchospasm, chronic colitis.
Children
It is used in pediatrics.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Nurofen for children is used to treat children under 12 years of age. Not intended for use in adult patients.
Method of administration and dosage
Nurofen recommends taking the drug in minimal, but at the same time, effective therapeutic doses. It is taken without dilution with liquid.
A single dose is calculated based on the weight of the young patient, usually 5 to 10 mg per kg of patient weight. The maximum daily dose is 30 mg per 1 kg of body weight. A repeated dose should not be taken earlier than 6 hours later.
- For children from 3 to 6 months, it is enough to take 2.5 ml, 1 to 3 times a day. 6-12 months – the same dosage, up to 4 times a day.
- Children from 1 to 3 years old – 5 ml, 4-6 years old – 7.5 ml, 7-9 years old – 10 ml, and, finally, 10-12 years old – 15 milliliters from 1 to 3 times a day.
If the temperature rises after immunization, a single dose of Nurofen for children is sufficient, the dose is selected in accordance with the recommendations for the appropriate age. We can repeat the appointment at least 6 hours later.
If, after 3 days of therapy, the temperature does not decrease, and the general condition of the patient does not show positive dynamics, you should consult a doctor. With similar symptoms at the age of 3-6 months, a doctor should be consulted after 24 hours.
Overdose
An overdose of the drug causes symptoms of intoxication (drowsiness or, on the contrary, agitation, disorientation, coma), dyspeptic disorders (stool disorders, abdominal pain). In severe cases, gastrointestinal bleeding may occur. Severe intoxication can lead to metabolic acidosis, renal failure, hepatotoxic effects.
It is necessary to flush the stomach, prescribe the treatment of symptoms, apply enterosorbents.
Side effects
This pharmaceutical preparation is usually well tolerated by patients. However, it has some pro-ulcerogenic properties, that is, it promotes the formation of stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, dry mouth may appear, and appetite may decrease.
Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (symptoms of nausea, heartburn, flatulence) are frequent, an increase in blood pressure, bronchospasm in asthmatics have also been observed, allergic reactions have occurred, in particular, cases of aseptic meningitis, Quincke’s edema have been reported. Possible reactions from the side of the liver – the occurrence of jaundice, hepatitis. Rarely observed: stomatitis, heartburn, esophagitis, papilonecrosis, nephritis, decreased urea secretion.
Storage conditions and periods
Store up to 3 years at a temperature not exceeding 15-25 ° C.
