Scientific Evidence
Levocetirizine, the active ingredient in Contrachist Allergy tablets, is a third-generation non-sedating antihistamine that selectively antagonizes the H1 histamine receptor. This action helps in reducing the symptoms of allergic conditions by inhibiting the effects of histamine in the body.
Several studies have demonstrated the efficacy of levocetirizine in the treatment of allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria. A study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology showed that levocetirizine provided significant relief from symptoms of allergic rhinitis compared to a placebo.
Additional Information
- Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
- Avoid taking alcohol or CNS depressants while using Contrachist Allergy.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
Levocetirizine has been shown to have a rapid onset of action, providing relief from symptoms within 1 hour of administration. Its long duration of action allows for once-daily dosing, improving patient compliance and convenience.
In comparative studies, levocetirizine has shown similar efficacy to other second and third-generation antihistamines with a lower incidence of sedation, making it a preferred choice for patients requiring long-term treatment for allergic conditions.
