Composition

active substance: 1 ml of the drug contains tinctures of hellebore rhizomes with roots (Veratri rhizomata cum radicibus) (1:10) [extractant ethanol 70% (v / v)] – 0.5 ml;

excipient: purified water.

Pharmacological properties

A drug for the treatment of head lice. It has an antiparasitic effect (against lice and nits localized on the scalp and pubis, as well as on clothing). Contains alkaloids as the main pharmacologically active compounds that are part of the roots and rhizomes of hellebore. The mechanism of action of the drug is due to the effect on the smooth muscles of the intestines of parasites, while their ability to feed and reproduce is impaired. In addition, when applied externally, the drug improves hair growth, has a weak analgesic, antibacterial effect.

Indications for use

Pediculosis of the scalp and pubis.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to drug components. Infected skin lesions.

Special security measures

Use hellebore water only externally on intact skin. When using the drug, you must be careful not to allow contact with mucous membranes, eyes, wound surfaces due to the danger of a resorptive effect. It is necessary to remember about the high toxicity of the drug when it enters the gastric tract and bloodstream. In case of contact with the mucous membrane of the eyes, rinse the eyes with plenty of water.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction
With the simultaneous use of preparations from plants containing tannins, the pharmacological effect is reduced.

Application features

To avoid re-infection, it is necessary to disinfect underwear and bed linen simultaneously with the use of the drug.

Application during pregnancy or lactation

There are no data on the safety and efficacy of using Chemerichnaya water during pregnancy or lactation, therefore, do not prescribe the drug during this period.

Method of administration and dosage

Shake up Chemerichnaya water before use. Apply the drug to thoroughly washed damp hair with a cotton or gauze swab. Then tie a headscarf on your head, and then wash your hands with soap and water. After 30 minutes, rinse your hair several times with warm running water, then wash your hair with soap or shampoo. After washing, it is recommended to comb the hair with a thick comb to remove dead lice and nits. Care must be taken when using the drug.

Children

The safety and efficacy of using the drug for children has not been established, therefore it is not recommended to use the drug for children under 12 years of age without a doctor’s prescription.

Overdose

With prolonged use and exceeding the recommended doses of the drug, the alkaloids that are part of the drug can cause resorptive effects manifested in the form of hypotensive action, nausea, vomiting, strong cholinomimetic action and suppression of cardiac activity. If a large number of alkaloids enter the bloodstream, cardiac arrest is possible, therefore, taking the drug inside is unacceptable.
Treatment: symptomatic therapy; the use of anticholinergics, cardiovascular agents; means for normalizing the activity of the gastrointestinal tract.
First aid for poisoning. In case of accidental ingestion of the drug – intestinal lavage with tannin solutions, a suspension of activated carbon or white clay; then prescribe saline laxatives; in case of damage to mucous membranes – irrigation with 2% novocaine solution.

Adverse reactions

Allergic reactions in the form of itching, erythema. In case of accidental ingestion of the drug, nausea, vomiting, and allergic reactions are possible.
