1 filter bag contains St. John’s wort grass (Hyperici herba) 1.5 g

Dosage form

Grass.

Main physical and chemical properties: pieces of stems, leaves, flowers of various shapes and unripe fruits, greenish-yellow, green, grayish-green, dark green, greenish-brown, bright yellow or yellow with black dots, sometimes pink-purple .

Pharmacological properties

The biologically active substances of the St. John’s wort grass  have astringent, anti-inflammatory and some antimicrobial action, which promotes tissue regeneration; moderately affect bile secretion, stimulate gastric secretion.

Indication

As a part of complex therapy of diseases of bilious ways (dyskinesias of bilious ways, cholecystitises); gastrointestinal tract (acute and chronic colitis, diarrhea, flatulence, hypoacid gastritis).

In inflammatory processes of the oral cavity (gingivitis, stomatitis).

Contraindication:

  • individual hypersensitivity to the biologically active substances of the drug;
  • hypertension.

Method of application and dosage

Place 1.5 tablespoons of St. John’s wort grass  in an enamel dish, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and infuse in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes. Strain, squeeze the residue to the strained broth. Bring the volume of broth to 200 ml with boiled water.

Apply warm 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals: adults and children over 16 years – 1 cup, children aged 12-14 years – 1-2 tablespoons, children aged 15-16 years – 1 cup .

Place 2 filter bags St. John’s wort grass in a glass or enamel dish, pour 200 ml of boiling water, close and infuse for 15 minutes. Apply warm 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals: adults and children over 16 years – ½ – 1 cup, children aged 12-14 years – ¼ cups, children aged 15-16 years – ½– ¼ glasses.

Externally used for rinsing the mouth.

The prepared infusion should be stored at a temperature of 8-15 ºC for no more than 2 days.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually.

Overdose

Overdose and prolonged use causes a feeling of bitterness in the mouth, discomfort in the liver.

Side effects:

  • increase in blood pressure;
  • allergic reactions (redness, rash, swelling and itching of the skin);
  • photosensitization (UV radiation should be avoided during treatment).
