Lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus) are present in the human digestive tract and are part of a natural ecological barrier. Lactic acid bacteria maintain the balance of the intestinal microflora, prevent an increase in the number of pathogenic putrefactive microbes in the intestine, prevent the formation and influence of certain endotoxins.

Lactic acid bacteria produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), activate macrophages and promote the production of immunoglobulin G subclasses (IgG2), thereby stimulating the activity of immune processes. They contribute to the synthesis of some B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin, folic acid, pantothenic acid).
