Description

Latanox Eye Drops 0.005% 2.5 ml. №1 Vial

Ingredients:

Latanoprost 0.005% w/v is the active ingredient in Latanox eye drops. It also contains benzalkonium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, disodium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous, and water for injections.

Dosage:

One drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. Do not exceed the recommended dosage as it may not improve efficacy and can lead to adverse effects.

Indications:

Latanox eye drops are indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Contraindications:

Do not use Latanox eye drops if you are allergic to latanoprost or any other ingredients in the product. It is also contraindicated in patients under 18 years of age.

Directions:

To apply Latanox eye drops, tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and instill one drop into the eye. Close your eyes for a few minutes without blinking. Avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent contamination.

Scientific Evidence:

Studies have shown the efficacy of latanoprost in reducing intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma. A randomized controlled trial by Alm et al. demonstrated a significant decrease in intraocular pressure with latanoprost compared to placebo over a 6-month period.

Additional Information:

It is important to regularly monitor intraocular pressure and follow-up with your healthcare provider while using Latanox eye drops. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any eye irritation, vision changes, or allergic reactions.

Pharmacologically, latanoprost works by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor from the eye, thereby reducing intraocular pressure. This mechanism of action helps in preventing optic nerve damage and vision loss associated with glaucoma.

Compared to other prostaglandin analogs, latanoprost has shown similar efficacy in lowering intraocular pressure but with potentially fewer side effects, making it a preferred choice in the management of glaucoma.
