Scientific Evidence

Metformin, the active ingredient in Metformin Kanon tablets, works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity in the body’s tissues. Several studies have demonstrated the efficacy of metformin in lowering blood glucose levels and reducing hemoglobin A1c in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Additional Information

Metformin has been shown to have additional benefits beyond glycemic control, including potential cardiovascular protection and weight loss in some patients. It is considered a first-line therapy for type 2 diabetes due to its safety profile and proven efficacy in numerous clinical trials.

Pharmacological Effects: Metformin primarily works by decreasing hepatic glucose production and increasing insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. This dual mechanism helps to lower blood glucose levels and improve overall glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have shown that metformin not only effectively lowers blood glucose levels but also reduces the risk of diabetes-related complications such as cardiovascular events and kidney disease. One study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that metformin reduced the risk of cardiovascular events in diabetic patients compared to other antidiabetic medications.
