Scientific Evidence:
Mirtazapine, the active ingredient in Mirtazapin Sandoz, is a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant (NaSSA). It works by enhancing the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and serotonin’s activity in the brain, which helps regulate mood and alleviate symptoms of depression.
Several studies have demonstrated the efficacy of mirtazapine in the treatment of major depressive disorder. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry found that mirtazapine was significantly more effective than placebo in reducing depressive symptoms and improving overall response rates.
Additional Information:
In clinical trials, Mirtazapin Sandoz has shown to have a favorable side effect profile compared to other antidepressants, with a lower incidence of sexual dysfunction and insomnia. However, like all medications, it may cause side effects such as drowsiness, dry mouth, and weight gain. It is important to discuss any concerns or potential side effects with a healthcare provider.
Patients should not discontinue Mirtazapin Sandoz abruptly as it may lead to withdrawal symptoms. A gradual tapering of the dose under medical supervision is recommended to safely discontinue the medication.
