Description
Nebutamol composition and form of release
The main active ingredient is salbutamol.
The drug goes on sale in the form of an inhalation solution, in a disposable container with a volume of 2 or 2.5 ml, 1 mg of salbutamol in 1 ml of the drug.
Pharmacological properties
Nebutamol is one of the medicines used to treat respiratory disorders, being a bronchodilator.
The main active ingredient is salbutamol. It is an adrenergic agonist, or beta-adrenostimulant, which has a bronchodilatory and tocolytic effect. The drug is able to suppress the reactive reactions of the bronchi, improves the discharge of sputum from the lower respiratory tract, does not allow bronchial spasms to occur, and prevents resistance in the respiratory tract. The production of mucus increases, the ciliated epithelium in the bronchi is activated, inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators.
If used at the recommended dosages, no tachycardia or arterial pressure fluctuations occur. Expands the bronchi, blood vessels and muscles of the uterus, without affecting the work of the heart muscle. Differs in speed – the effect is noticeable 5 minutes after application.
Indications
Nebutamol is used to:
- quickly stop an acute attack of bronchial asthma;
- prevent coughing attacks and improve sputum discharge in chronic obstructive bronchitis.
Contraindications
The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or one of the auxiliary components.
It is also contraindicated if the female patient is at risk of miscarriage.
Should not be administered concurrently with non-selective beta-blockers, in particular propranolol.
It is used with caution in thyrotoxicosis.
Children
In pediatrics, it can be used from 4 years of age.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The drug should be administered with caution during pregnancy.
If there is a need to use this drug during lactation, then breastfeeding should be suspended for this period.
In cases where the risks to the woman’s life exceed the risks to the child, the drug can be used.
Method of administration and dosage
Nebutamol is administered by inhalation.
For use, an inhaler, a nebulizer, should be used, with which the substance is inhaled through the mouth.
Recommended dosage:
- for asthmatic attacks, for children over 12 years old and for adults – from 2.5 to 5 mg of salbutamol;
- for children from 4 to 12 years old – 2 mg, in special cases the dose can be increased to 5 mg per dose;
- with obstructive bronchitis – up to 40 mg of salbutamol per day.
Inhalation can be repeated up to 4 times during the day.
The dosage adjustment of the duration of treatment is determined individually by the attending physician.
Overdose
Overdose can cause:
- tachycardia;
- tremor;
- hyperactivity;
- metabolic disorders.
Recommended symptomatic treatment, temporary withdrawal of the drug.
Side effects
Side effects may occur during treatment with this drug. In particular, there may be:
- nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, angioedema, other manifestations of allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock;
- tremor, headache;
- tachycardia, other cardiac arrhythmias;
- hypokalemia.
The most common side effects from the nervous system, most often in the form of muscle cramps, tremors.
Storage conditions and periods
The shelf life is no more than 2 years.
Do not freeze during storage.
