Additional Information:
Nistatin works by disrupting the cell membrane of the fungi, leading to their death. It is considered a fungicidal agent, meaning it kills the fungi rather than just inhibiting their growth. - Nistatin binds to sterols in the fungal cell membrane, disrupting membrane integrity and leading to cell death.
- Clinical trials have shown Nistatin to be as effective as other antifungal agents in treating Candida infections, with a good safety profile.
- Nistatin’s use in both adults and pediatric populations demonstrates its versatility and efficacy in managing fungal infections.
