Release form
It is produced in the form of a solution for injection, in 100 ml vials. 1 ml of the drug contains 2 mg of ofloxacin.
Pharmacological properties
This pharmaceutical product Ofloxacin belongs to the group of antibacterial drugs, which are based on pharmaceutical substances of the fluoroquinolone group.

The mechanism of bactericidal action should be attributed to the property of blocking the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is present in bacteria.

Indications

- organs of the abdominal cavity;
- pelvic organs, kidneys and urinary tract, genitals (including prostatitis, gonorrhea).
It is also used for the prevention of infections during surgical interventions, including in patients with weakened immunity.
Contraindications
The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.
It is not recommended to administer ofloxacin within 4 hours after taking medications that contain magnesium (magnesium sulfate), aluminum (maalox), iron (iron lactate), zinc (zinc sulfate), sucralfate.
When taken simultaneously with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the risk of seizures increases.
Children
The drug should not be used in the treatment of children under 16 years of age.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is contraindicated in the treatment of pregnant women.
If it is necessary to administer the drug during breastfeeding, then lactation should be suspended for the duration of treatment.
Method of administration and dosage
This Ofloxacin is intended for drip infusion. The drug is injected slowly (100 ml is injected for at least 30 minutes).
Dosage – individual, prescribed by the attending physician.
The average dosage is from 200 to 400 mg of the drug 2 times a day.
The duration of the course of treatment is from 7 to 10 days; in case of chronic diseases, the treatment can be extended.
With kidney disease, the dosage of the drug is reduced.
Overdose
Overdose cases are extremely rare, therefore, little studied.
In case of acute overdose, symptomatic treatment with supportive therapy should be undertaken.
Reducing the level of ofloxacin in the blood is promoted, albeit to a small extent, by hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
Side effects
The drug rarely causes side effects and is well tolerated.
The following side effects are possible, such as:
- headache, dizziness, anxiety, photophobia;
- weakness;
- itching, rash;
- hyperthermia, increased activity of transaminases, creatinine in blood plasma;
- changes in blood quality indicators;
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
