Scientific Evidence
Ortofen (diclofenac) has been extensively studied for its efficacy in managing pain and inflammation. Research published in the Journal of Pain Research has shown that diclofenac is effective in reducing pain intensity and improving physical function in patients with osteoarthritis. Additionally, a meta-analysis published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews supports the use of diclofenac for the treatment of various inflammatory conditions.
Additional Information
It is important to note that Ortofen tablets are enteric-coated to help protect the stomach from potential irritation. However, like all NSAIDs, diclofenac can still carry risks of gastrointestinal bleeding, cardiovascular events, and renal impairment. It is advisable to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms.
Pharmacological Effects: Diclofenac works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins which are responsible for pain and inflammation. This action helps alleviate symptoms associated with various inflammatory conditions.
Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have demonstrated the effectiveness of diclofenac in providing symptomatic relief in patients with rheumatic diseases. A study published in the European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology found that diclofenac was well-tolerated and significantly improved pain and joint stiffness in patients with osteoarthritis.
