Description
Pectussin DDcomposition and form of release
The release form of pectusin is white tablets, 10 pieces per package. The pills have a specific smell and taste of menthol or mint. It tastes sweet, minty.
The main active ingredients are mint and eucalyptus oil. Excipients – purified talc, sodium salt, crystalline sugar, calcium stearate.
The tablets are intended for resorption, one tablet contains 800 mg of the drug.
Pharmacological properties
Pectussin DDdrug for the treatment of colds, coughs of various types.
The drug facilitates coughing up, has a sputum-thinning effect.
The action of Pectussin DDis aimed at irritating the nerve endings, which promotes expectoration and relieves breathing in case of nasopharyngeal congestion.
Relieves inflammation in the upper respiratory tract. Has a mild antimicrobial effect. Acts as an antiseptic. It is intended for complex therapy in severe and acute forms of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract.
Indications
Effective in inflammatory processes in the upper respiratory tract – with pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and the like.
Pectussin DD is not used on its own – it is included in general therapy as an adjunct.
The duration of admission and the number of daily doses is determined by the attending physician, depending on the course of the disease, the severity and the complex course of treatment. The drug is taken orally by dissolving, so that in this way the medicine acts more effectively. Usually I put it under the tongue until it is completely dissolved.
Contraindications
It is forbidden to take with bronchial asthma, diabetes mellitus, stenosing laryngotracheitis, spasmophilia, allergies to menthol, eucalyptus or other components of the drug.
Children
Not assigned to children over 7 years old. Over 7 is prescribed the same dose as an adult.
Interaction with other drugs
Since the drug is prescribed in combination therapy, the drug can also be combined with other drugs.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
It is not appointed unnecessarily. Only if the effectiveness of the treatment will bring more benefits to the expectant and nursing mother than threats and risks to the baby.
Method of administration and dosage
Pectussin DD is placed under the tongue, waiting for complete dissolution. Average daily dose of 1 tablet – 3-4 times a day

Side effects
Eucalyptus can cause severe allergic reactions in the form of itching, facial swelling, and hives.

Usually, allergic manifestations are local in nature, do not require special treatment and disappear after the drug is discontinued.
Storage conditions
Pectussin DD requires a cool, dry storage area. It is advisable to hide from children.
The shelf life of the drug is 3 years, after which it should be disposed of and not taken under any circumstances.
