Composition

active ingredient: chamomile flowers liquid extract (Chamomilla flores extractum liquidum) (extractant 50% (v / v) ethanol) (1: 1) – up to 100 ml;

excipients: polysorbate-80, ethanol 50%.

Dosage form

Liquid.

Basic physical and chemical properties: dark brown liquid with the smell of chamomile. Precipitation is allowed.

Pharmacological properties

This drug Recutan belongs to the group of herbal medicines, the basis of which is an extract from chamomile flowers, which is used in the treatment of the digestive tract, in dermatology, proctology and dermatology.

The main active ingredient is chamomile officinalis extract. Chamomile flowers contain beneficial trace elements such as chamomile azulene (chamazulene) essential oil and bisabolol. It also contains apigenin, luteolin, quercetin, coumarin, polyins, and organic acids. Among others, chamomile contains phytosterols, polysaccharides, tannins, proteins, hicosides, flavonoids, alkaloids, as well as trace elements such as calcium, potassium, chlorine, magnesium, phosphorus and sulfur, and other substances.

These and other useful biological active components included in chamomile flowers produce analgesic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory effects.

Chamomile also has an antiseptic, diaphoretic, choleretic effect. Improves the functioning of the immune system. It has the ability to reduce allergic reactions, activate regeneration processes, and enhance secretion in the digestive glands in the gastrointestinal tract.

Indications

This drug Recutan is used in the treatment of certain diseases of the digestive tract, as well as in dermatology.

In particular, for treatment:

  • gastritis, inflammatory diseases of the liver and gallbladder;
  • relieves inflammation in dermatitis, incl. sunburn, acne, herpes, periodontitis;
  • ARVI, acute respiratory infections, bronchitis, pharyngitis, other colds;
  • erosion of the cervix;
  • for prophylactic treatment of the vagina before a cesarean section.

The drug is used in the form of rinsing, inhalations, enemas, baths.

Contraindications

The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.

It is also contraindicated for use with:

  • stomach ulcer;
  • gastritis, esophageal ulcer.

Not used in pediatrics under 12 years of age.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

This drug is contraindicated in the treatment of pregnant women and women during lactation.

Method of administration and dosage

The dosage, regimens and duration of treatment are determined by the attending physician on an individual basis, depending on the nature and course of the disease.
The recommended dose is 2.5 ml (0.5 tsp) of oral solution diluted in 100 ml of warm water, 4 times a day, after meals.

For external use:

  • for compresses and gargling – the recommended dose is 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoon) of solution diluted in 1 liter of water, 2-4 times a day;
  • for vaginal lavages – the recommended dose is 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of solution diluted in 1 liter of water, 1-2 times a day.

For skin diseases, the drug is applied with a cotton swab to the affected skin.
The duration of treatment, the exact dosage, regimens and duration of treatment are determined by the attending physician individually, depending on the individual indicators of the course of the disease.

Overdose

Overdose of side effects in the form of intoxication was not observed.
In case of excessive oral intake, diarrhea and dyspeptic symptoms may occur.
Treatment is symptomatic.

Side effects

The drug is usually well tolerated. In cases of hypersensitivity, reactions such as:

  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
  • rash, dermatitis, allergic urticaria;
  • allergic conjunctivitis.
