Composition

active ingredient: phenylephrine hydrochloride;

1 suppository contains phenylephrine hydrochloride 5 mg;

excipients: cocoa butter, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216), corn starch.

Dosage form

Suppositories are rectal.

Basic physical and chemical properties: homogeneous opaque suppositories from pale white to light yellow torpedo-shaped.

Pharmacological properties

Phenylephrine hydrochloride is an adrenomimetic, the use of which leads to a local vasoconstrictor effect. This normalizes the ratio between blood flow to the hemorrhoids and the outflow of blood from them, and also helps to reduce exudation, swelling, itching, serous discharge in hemorrhoids and other diseases of the anorectal zone.

Indications

External and internal hemorrhoids, anal fissures, erosion and microtrauma of the anus, anal itching.

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity to any of the components of the drug, a significant increase in blood pressure, tachysystolic cardiac arrhythmias, decompensated heart failure, cardiac conduction disorders, severe renal and hepatic insufficiency, thyrotoxicosis, acute pancreatitis, simultaneous use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors or within 15 days after discontinuation treatment with MAO inhibitors, thromboembolic disease, granulocytopenia.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

In the treatment of pregnant and lactating women, the use of Relief is possible only as prescribed by a doctor and in the presence of strict indications.

Dosage and administration

Adults and children over 12 years of age should use the drug after hygiene procedures. Pre-wash the skin around the anus with warm water, clean the affected area with a moistened soft cloth, then gently dry with toilet paper or a soft cloth, removing excess moisture. Before the introduction of the suppository, it is necessary to remove the protective plastic shell from it. Insert the suppository into the anus.

Enter 1 suppository up to 4 times a day, especially at night, in the morning and after each bowel stool. The duration of treatment is 7-14 days. Regular use of the drug allows you to provide a stable therapeutic effect, relieves the symptoms of hemorrhoids.

Do not use if protective coating is missing or damaged.

Children

The efficacy and safety of Relief suppositories in children under 12 years of age have not been studied. No data available.

Overdose

Overdose cases when using Relief suppositories have not been reported. There is no data on the toxic effects of the drug when administered rectally.

Side effects

In some cases, when Relief suppositories was used in therapeutic doses, the development of allergic reactions was observed, accompanied by itching, swelling and redness at the sites of application of the drug.
