Scientific Evidence
Pharmacological Effects: Latanoprost, a prostaglandin analogue, increases uveoscleral outflow, reducing intraocular pressure. Timolol, a non-selective beta-adrenergic antagonist, decreases aqueous humor production. The combination provides additive intraocular pressure-lowering effects.
Clinical Trials: Studies have shown that the combination of latanoprost and timolol is more effective in lowering intraocular pressure compared to either agent alone. Research by XYZ et al. demonstrated a 25% reduction in intraocular pressure with the combination therapy.
