Composition

active ingredient: naphazoline nitrate;

1 ml contains 0.5 mg of naphazoline nitrate;

excipients: boric acid, ethylenediamine, methyl paraben (E 218), purified water.

Dosage form

Nasal drops, solution.

Basic physical and chemical properties: colorless transparent solution, odorless.

Pharmacological properties

The tool is widely used in the treatment of ENT organs. It is administered intranasally (through the nose). The active ingredient – naphazoline nitrate – belongs to the group of alpha-adrenergic agonists. Stimulates the alpha-adrenergic receptors of the sympathetic nervous system, providing a vasoconstrictor and anti-edema effect.
The drug is prescribed for various diseases of the nasal cavity. Sanorin promotes the expansion of the ducts of the Eustachian tubes, paranasal sinuses, improves the outflow of mucus, as a result of which breathing through the nose is facilitated and the growth of bacteria in these areas is prevented. Removal of unwanted effects takes place quite quickly, within 5 minutes. The action of the remedy, as a rule, lasts from 4 to 6 hours.

Indications for use

Sanorin drops is prescribed for the treatment of such diseases:

  • acute rhinitis of various origins;
  • otitis media of the middle ear (to relieve swelling of the nasopharynx);
  • laryngitis;
  • sinusitis;
  • tubo-otitis.

Also, the drug may be prescribed to stop nosebleeds.

Contraindications

The use of the drug is contraindicated in case of increased sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug, atrophic and chronic rhinitis, glaucoma (angle-closure), increased blood pressure, with pronounced atherosclerosis, with hyperactivity of the hormonal activity of the thyroid gland, tachycardia.
Do not use the drug while taking MAOIs, MAOIs (inhibitors) and for two weeks after. With caution, the drug should be prescribed to patients during pregnancy, breastfeeding, with the development of hormonally active tumors, as well as those suffering from angina pectoris, prostatic hyperplasia.
The remedy is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

With great care, the drug is prescribed to pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding. Before using the drug in this category of women, you should definitely consult your doctor.

Mode of application

Children from two years old should instill 1-2 drops of a 0.05% solution into each nasal opening 2-3 times a day. In this case, the interval between doses of the drug should not be less than 4 hours. The duration of treatment with Sanorin drops in adults is 7 days, in children 3 days.

Overdose

If the recommended doses of the drug are exceeded, headaches, nausea, sweating, nervousness, heart palpitations, tremors, tachycardia may occur. Also, signs of an overdose include an increase in body temperature, mental disorders, difficulty breathing. In children, the probability of an overdose of the drug is much higher than in adults, due to the greater susceptibility to Sanorin. Elimination of the phenomena of overdose is symptomatic.

Adverse reactions

Sanorin is well tolerated, provided that the recommended doses are observed. Quite often, there is a feeling of dryness and burning in the nasal cavity. Long-term use of the agent leads to atrophy of the nasal mucosa and disrupts the patency of the nasal ducts.
