Sonnat (zopiclone) coated tablets 7.5 mg. №30

Composition

active substance: zopiclone;

1 tablet contains zopiclone in terms of 100% substance 7.5 mg;

excipients: povidone; talc; lactose monohydrate (tablettose-80); microcrystalline cellulose; calcium stearate; Opadry II Yellow coating mixture 33G22507 (triacetin; hypromellose; lactose monohydrate; titanium dioxide (E 171); polyethylene glycol; yellow iron oxide (E 172)).

Dosage form

Film-coated tablets.

Basic physical and chemical properties:
film-coated tablets, creamy yellow, round with a biconvex surface, with an imprint of “KMP” on one side of the tablet. The white core is visible on the transverse fault.

Pharmacological properties

Zopiclone is a representative of the cyclopyrrolone group, which have similar effects with benzodiazepine derivatives. The effects of zopiclone are similar to those of other compounds belonging to this class: it exhibits a pacifying, anxiolytic, sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant and amnestatic effect.
The effects of zopiclone are associated with the fact that it is able to act as a specific agonist of the receptors for the macromolecular complex of the GABA-omega receptors of the central nervous system, which are responsible for opening channels for chlorine ions.
Zopiclone improves the quality and duration of sleep, and also reduces the frequency of early and nocturnal awakenings.

Indications

Sonnat tablets is intended for the treatment of severe sleep disorders such as situational or temporary types of insomnia.

Contraindications

Sonnat is not prescribed if the patient has previously been diagnosed with intolerance to zopiclone, myasthenia gravis, severe respiratory failure, sleep apnea syndrome, severe kidney problems. This hypnotic is strictly forbidden to use in the therapy of patients who are under 18 years of age.
When prescribing Sonnat, one should be extremely careful, since its long-term use can cause the development of drug dependence in patients, as well as a decrease in the hypnotic effect of taking the drug.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Insufficient knowledge of the effect of zopiclone on the course of pregnancy, as well as the condition of the newborn, whose mother receives the drug for therapeutic purposes, does not allow the use of Sonnat in the therapy of pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Method of administration and dosage

Sonnat tablets is taken orally at bedtime. The doctor sets the dose and duration of treatment individually.
In the event that the patient has not been prescribed an individual treatment regimen, then patients under 65 years of age take 7.5 mg once a day. Patients over 65 years of age receive 3.75 mg per day. The use of a sleeping pill at a dosage of 7.5 mg by the elderly is justified only in the most extreme cases.
Weakened patients, as well as those who suffer from hepatic or respiratory failure, take the drug once every knocking at 3.75 mg.
Sonnat is taken in short courses from 2 days to 3 weeks. To prevent the development of drug dependence, the duration of admission should not exceed 4 weeks.

Overdose

The use of high doses of Sonnat tablets can cause the patient to have bradycardia, ataxia, blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, respiratory failure, nausea, indomitable vomiting, convulsions, inappropriate behavior, loss of consciousness and coma.
If less than one hour has passed after taking the drug, then the patient is rinsed with the stomach, and is also prescribed the intake of sorbent agents and symptomatic therapy.

Side effects

In rare cases, taking Sonnat may be accompanied by increased insomnia, the development of dizziness, hallucinations, agitation, confusion, nightmares, increased irritability, dysphoria, aggressiveness, psychosis, delirium, anger, somnambulism, drug addiction, decreased libido, depression, drowsiness, headaches , anterograde amnesia, impaired consciousness, angioedema, allergic reactions and dyspeptic disorders.
