Research published in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy demonstrated the effectiveness of azithromycin in treating respiratory tract infections, showing high rates of bacterial eradication and clinical improvement.
Additional Information

It is well-tolerated by most patients and has a convenient dosing regimen, enhancing patient compliance and treatment outcomes.
Pharmacological Effects
Azithromycin, the active ingredient in Sumamed, works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, leading to the disruption of bacterial growth and replication. Its broad spectrum of activity makes it effective against a wide range of bacteria, including both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.
Clinical Trials and Comparative Effectiveness
Clinical trials have shown that Sumamed is as effective as other macrolide antibiotics in treating respiratory and skin infections, with the added benefit of a shorter treatment duration due to its extended half-life. Comparative studies have also demonstrated the superior tolerability and safety profile of azithromycin compared to other antibiotics in its class.
