The main active ingredient of the drug is sodium picosulfate. This substance, which has laxative properties, belongs to the triarylmethane group.
Due to the metabolic processes that occur after the drug enters the body in the large intestine, due to its action, the absorption of fluids is slowed down, and the production of water and the release of electrolytes increases.
As a result, there is a softening of feces, which also increases their volume, produce additional stimulation of peristalsis in the intestine.
Sodium picosulfate has low absorption, little absorbed when it enters the intestine. Some partial absorption occurs only after the bacterial degradation of the substance occurs. Absorption occurs when the drug enters the colon, then conjugation occurs and then the drug is excreted with the help of the intestine along with the secreted bile.
